The National Skills Academy for Social Care supports Carers Week
8 June 2009
The National Skills Academy for Social Care supports Carers Week and recognises the huge contribution that unpaid carers make to the adult social care workforce.
Director, Liz McSheehy said:
“These unpaid carers deserve as much recognition as the 1.5 million workers in adult social care, especially in light of an ageing population and older and disabled people living longer. The need for care services, as a whole, is set to increase with an expected 1 million more workers needed by 2025 and the role of unpaid carers in this time of rising demand is invaluable”
